After a kayaking accident took Josh Donald’s sight, he’s faced with learning to negotiate the world as a blind man. In short order, his boyfriend leaves him behind, making it clear he’s not inclined to deal with special needs. Reeling from the blow, Josh flounders. In an attempt to help, Josh’s friends take him to a camp for the blind, where he falls for the camp organizer, Charlie Cooper. Charlie seems to feel the attraction too, but when a horse named Dottie pushes them into a hot first kiss, Charlie resists. He believes he’s damaged goods, not boyfriend material. Since the accident, Josh has faced tough obstacles, but the most challenging hurdle of all may be getting Charlie to open up and take a chance on love.

I almost didn't get this book because of one of the reviews but then I reread the blurb and some of the other reviews and thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try. I'm really glad I did. Loved the two characters Charlie and Josh. I got this on audio book and the narrator made it even better for me. He got all the anger, passion and humor just right. This will be a book I'll enjoy rereading sometime. I enjoyed this book so much I've gotten a number of other books by Lisa Worrall. I would highly recommend this story - its touching without being cloying.Product details

I Can See For Miles edition by Lisa Worrall Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Who isn't in the mood for a sweet sappy love story? Great characters and just a lovely story. So nice to read a book with people with disabilities and not have them bitter and angry.
This book read like watching a cheesy made-for-tv romance movie. It was hard to reconcile myself with the predictable dialogue. Things happened way too quickly. First meeting and every one of their friends and family decide they're perfect for other? Even Mario, though he does a complete 180 not too long after and decides he knew all along this was bad idea. A few days and they're madly deeply in love, and not just any kind of love, but the forever and ever, I-can't-see-me-without-you love. How very convenient for two so damaged by past relationships that they can get through those hang ups without any problems. No personal growth necessary, they can just jump in feet first and leave all trust issues hanging on the coat rack. I found the whole scenario rather contrived. Not to mention, some characters were a little on the one and two dimensional side.
I also had major issues with the author's severe lack of medical knowledge concerning Cooper's condition. I'm not asking her to be the all-knowing of ocular science. But if she had deigned to spend even ten minutes with our good friend Google, she would have learned enough to make it a great plot point. It really irritates me when authors can't be bothered to do a little research before deciding to write about something of which they know so little. It is an insult to the reader's intelligence. Seriously, it feels as though authors of poorly researched novels just sit at their computers as they write and say, "I really don't have to bother looking this up, my readers are too stupid to know the difference." And in this day and age where internet is everywhere we go, and we literally hold the entirety of human knowledge in our hands, that kind of behavior is inexcusable.
As far as technical skill goes, the author does a nice job. I didn't notice any misspellings, dropped commas, or thesaurus abuse. Nothing really stood out in the way of grammar usage, either. Sentences, were clear, concise, and didn't ramble on forever. There were no extraneous details and no plot points that weren't wrapped up by the end of the book. This was all extremely refreshing to find as an unfortunately large amount of m/m romance seems to be severely lacking in this regard.
The characters are well developed and interesting. The story is ok, though the tensions are built mostly through misunderstandings. There a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride through some of the story - not that that is a bad event, either.
What a great story this was. It gave me that feeling of hope that so few stories have. I almost wished it was me at the summer camp... falling in love in such a deep way. Without the burden of skin beauty to get in my way. Just great... an absolute joy!
A good book that I would have liked to see a little more depth from the characters. However, I really did enjoy it and I loved watching the characters Fall in love.
I'm about to put the book down and walk away... I like the story well enough, but I'm only about 30 pages into it and the author has used the word "chuckled" more times than my nerves can stand!!! LOL I stopped counting at 25... and this book isn't even about clowns. I may continue this review later if I can look past the "c word" being used every 6 paragraphs!!!
( 3 days later) Okay... I finished reading it last night. Sigh. I regret to inform you that "chuckled" ran rampant through the entire piece. At one point, the author even managed to use the word three times in the same 2 sentence paragraph. I'd say a good 75 to 90 in total. Ugh. Every time I saw that word it not only pulled me out of an otherwise pretty enjoyable read and marvel at the lack of editing skills present... but it irked me like a kid kicking the back of my seat in a movie theater.
But, with that said... should the author choose to go back and re-edit a few really repetetive words and descriptions... or, as a female, realize that a guy doesn't usually refer to his _____ as his "arousal"... the story is a sweet love story. The characters are likeable... even when in ugly situations. It was a really good effort for a fledgling writer, I felt, and in spite of the above... some of the passages when describing the scenery were beautifully painted and the language, for the most part, consistent and conversational.
For a less demanding reader, this is a unique story with many saving graces.
Lisa Worrell's "I Can See For Miles" gives new and evocative meaning to the phrase, "love is blind." This story is a masterful exposition in revealing that sometimes sight is not always mandatory to allow what the heart sees in its passion and magnificence; that sometimes physical blackness can become more illumined without the actual sense of sight.
This may be a story of what can happen when one loses their ability to see through their eyes, but to me it was more of a celebration of what one gains through the brightness of their heart.
Thank you Lisa for this loving and tender story. The tears I shed were well worth it for the joy it left in its place.
